The porpouse of this module was introduce in the use of Grasshopper plug-in for Rhino.
We wanted to build a ring made of cardboard ribs, so each group modified a sector of the torus and we finally joined together.
We used a definition of Grasshopper that builts in ribs a volume made in Rhino.
In addition, this definition let us modify the distance betwwen X and Y direction ribs (40 mm) and the space to assambly the pieces (2,5 mm), which normally coincides with the thickness of the material (2,8 mm), but you have to teste it always. And also, gave us the pieces labeled.
Then we exported the X and Y direction ribs to Autocad where we fit them into 450x800mm panels. In the same program, we change every element to its specific layer in order to be cutted (magenta) or printed (red).
Once done the computer work, lets give de hard work to the CNC Laser Machine.
The Laser Machine only takes 3 minutes to cut each cardboard panel.
We ordered the cutted pieces to start assambly part by hand.
We joined the pieces looking its label for the X or Y direction. It was very fast.
This was the result of our quarter of the ring.

And the final result joining the four quarters of the ring.
